Last year while we were on Mike Filsaime’s Marketers Cruise, we met Dereck Celis. He particularly caught our attention since he was constantly shooting videos so we naturally gravitated to each other. This past January we joined up with him again on the cruise and were happy to see he was still actively shooting video. Dereck is an huge advocate of attraction marketing and a committed and savvy entrepreneur who also loves to discover and share cool apps, tools and resources. While on the cruise he shared with me a really unique method to pick up tons of new “Likes” and fans in Facebook.
He graciously agreed to get on camera and let us pick his brain a little about what he does, how he uses video in his business and his trick to getting those “likes” on Facebook.
Dereck is an internet marketer, entrepreneur and mentor whose is growing his online business and presence while helping others to do the same. He’s also a fellow member of our Millionaire Mastermind group, an association founded by our associate Dave Sheahan of international entrepreneurs who meet weekly for sharing and accountability calls. I highly recommend you check out his site at DereckCelis.com.

[Due to focusing on finishing our book Shoot To Sell: Make Money Producing Special Interest Videos, we have to take a short break from blogging. Don't worry, we'll bring you some good information from other great sources while we rush to meet our publishing deadline.]
Many of the marketers I know are using video to capture attention of their readers. Using YouTube annotations is a great way to add information to a video and also get internal and external link juice at the same time. The problem is that so many people missed this when it first came out and others simply didn’t know how to capitalize on the opportunity. There are dozens of uses when you annotate a video, but we will focus on the three that mean the most to internet marketers here.
Use the YouTube annotations feature to maximize your videos for massive traffic.
1) Visual Information- Your videos are designed to deliver information in a strong, yet simple way. Using pictures and sounds will always attract people quicker that the written word. With that said they are also looking to information and are willing to read it in the video as well, I f it is relevant. When you annotate a video, you are adding something over the top of your video that will stand out and be noticed. As long as it is of benefit to the overall message, it will work well for you.
2) Internal Links- The YouTube annotations system will currently only deliver clicks internally. This means that the viewer can actually click on something in the video and be taken to another area in YouTube. You can send your viewers to your channel, other videos you like, and other videos you have made, or even give them the chance to subscribe to your channel. This is an amazing tool if you learn to use it effectively. The only limitation is your imagination.
3) Back Links- While the links all internal to YouTube, when you annotate a video, Google does still notice that as a back link to the URL you use. So if you are looking for back links to your blog or article, the YouTube annotations system delivers a powerful link from a site with a huge page rank. This can be a massive tool for your marketing when you use it in the right way.
The use of YouTube annotations can be the key to maximizing your marketing videos and driving them to the top of the search engines. There are a lot of really simple tricks that can give your videos preferred status with Google. You simply need to get an education in the ways of internet marketing. You need to take the time to learn how to get your content seen. An internet marketing mentor and coach can really set your success in motion.

Networking For Profit And Fun

Networking is the foundation of our culture. Be it a network of moms in the same town sharing their babysitting resources and child raising tips to our founding fathers who wrote our constitution, it is basically a supportive system of sharing information and services among individuals and groups who have a common interest. Networks are what enable us to make the world we live in better.
It’s the same with a business network, which is essentially a type of social network whose reason for existing is business activity as its goal – the establishment of a mutually beneficial relationship between members. As we’ve shared so often in our posts, we feel it is an essential business tool.
The beauty of social media and the internet is that you now can build and join in networks of like minded business people all over the globe. You don’t have to rely on standard shake-hands-and-exchange-your-business-card “opportunities”; you can join a Facebook group. We just joined a network of 6 like-minded entrepreneurs from Belgium, London, California and Ireland and we meet once a week over a call. I couldn’t have imagined such a group when I started going to professional networking meetings fresh out of college on my quest for finding a job!
However, nothing does take the place of face-to-face interaction. Most of the people in our new Mastermind group we met on the Mike Filsaime Marketers Cruise. For us, that cruise has been a wonderful place where we’ve learned leading edge marketing strategies, met potential partners and formed true friendships outside of the business world.
The next big networking event for us is NAB Show 2012 where we’ll not only be exposed to the latest gear and technology in the video and audio world, but we’ll be connecting and forging relationships with fellow videographers and filmmakers. We’re especially excited to connect again with our friend, Thomas Roberts and with Den Lennie who we’ll be interviewing for inclusion in our book, Shoot To Sell: Make Money Producing Special Interest Videos.
Whether it’s a conference, trade show or business meeting, you really must get out and connect and learn from others in your industry. If you are interested in attending NAB (which we highly recommend even if you’re a video novice!), you can use code SM08 (letter S, letter M, number zero, number
for free exhibits-only access at their site, www.NABShow.com. You can also get $100 off the SMART Pass, Conference Flex Pass and Post|Production World (no certification) with code SM09 (letter S, letter M, number zero, number 9). We hope to see you at NAB.
